Presenting a typically playful yet thoughtful programme, Orsino Ensemble comprises the wind instrument super stars of their generation, and we are very fortunate to welcome them to the Festival. The programme opens with a rare chance to hear Beethoven’s youthful wind quintet, followed by a stunning arrangement of Dvorák’s Romance, originally for violin and orchestra. It then traces Dvorák’s lineage as Janácek’s friend and teacher, and his, in turn, to Pavel Haas, whose career was cut brutally short by the Holocaust.
