Macao Orchestra – A Magnificent Night at St. Dominic’s Church
The ever-popular “A Magnificent Night at St. Dominic’s Church” series returns for its final concert of the season! British oboe master Nicholas Daniel will join the Macao Orchestra on the evening of 22 May, performing a selection of oboe works. Widely regarded as one of today’s leading oboists, Nicholas Daniel is the recipient of the Queen’s Medal for Music and the Cobbett Medal for Chamber Music, and is internationally acclaimed for his musicianship. Beyond his achievements as a remarkable soloist, Daniel is also an accomplished conductor and a passionate advocate for chamber music, and has worked tirelessly to promote music education.
In this concert, Nicholas Daniel and the Macao Orchestra will present various landmark oboe works, including contemporary composer Reena Esmail’s oboe duo “RE|Member” and James MacMillan’s “Intercession” for three oboes. The Macao Orchestra will also interpret Jean Françaix’s “9 characteristic pieces” and George Enescu’s “Decet for winds in D major”. In one night, immerse yourself in modern and contemporary repertoire and relish the oboe’s distinctive charm to the fullest!
