The second concert in the North Westmorland Arts 2015-16 series in Appleby, on Sunday, 6th December, will feature Nicholas Daniel and the Britten Oboe Quartet.

Nicholas founded the quartet with his colleagues and co-principles of the award-winning Britten Sinfonia. They all bring to this ensemble the highest musical standards and the experience of playing together over many years, resulting in warm, expressive and, above all, enjoyable playing.

Their aim is to bring music of the highest quality to audiences and explore lesser known repertoire, both British and from abroad, as well as playing standard classics such as the Mozart oboe quartet.

Their repertoire includes oboe and cor anglais quartets and their imaginative programming embraces repertoire other than the oboe quartet, often including string trios, solo works such as Britten’s Metamorphoses after Ovid or other chamber music combinations.

The program for this concert will include works by Benjamin Britten, Lennox Berkeley, E. J. Moeran, Oliver Knussen and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The concert will take place in Appleby public hall, with tickets available at the door. The concert arranger for North Westmorland Arts is Andrew Forsyth.
